Portugal III — Porto Ferreira

A rabelo boat moored on the Douro with port barrels stacked amidships, its striped gunwale set against the Ribeira climbing the far bank.

These flat-bottomed boats once carried the barrels down from the Douro valley; now they sit at anchor as advertising for the houses that used them. Warm, busy, and unmistakably Porto.
