Fire Scarred

Seven frames of what fire leaves behind in the Colorado high country — bark burnt to charcoal, wood weathered to silver, and trees still standing in meadows that have already grown back green around them.

Four of these are close studies that read as abstracts before they read as trees. The other three pull back: one to a single trunk in an open meadow, one to the whole burn with the Front Range behind it. The most graphic set in the catalogue, and the only one that works in both registers — texture up close, and horizon at a distance.
