Animals kept small in the frame, on purpose.
Most wildlife photography pushes in close enough that the animal fills the picture. I tend not to. In a snowed-in valley the elk are marks in the snow, and the scale of the place only registers once you find them — which is the point. The distance is doing as much work as the subject.
