High Plains

Five frames from the Pawnee National Grassland, the shortgrass country in the far northeast corner of Colorado where the Rockies are long out of sight and the horizon does all the work.

Chalk buttes, cattle, a windmill over a stock tank, and a shut-up snack shack that is the only saturated colour for miles. Drier and emptier than the farmland in Plains Light, and the closest thing here to documentary work.
